Meet Irene – Lead Designer and Founder of Irene + Co Events

Hi, I’m Irene—lead designer, founder of Irene + Co, and someone who has been building this business since college without even realizing it at first. I’ve spent the last 10 years turning once-in-a-lifetime moments into unforgettable experiences, and honestly? I still pinch myself that this is my job.


How It All Started


The planning bug hit early. I was the student who actually loved organizing school events. By sophomore year of college, I was handed the keys to plan full orientation. From there, I went into nonprofit event planning, then found myself working massive conventions like VidCon in California. I learned fast. I moved faster.


After that, I transitioned into luxury private events, managing six-figure budgets and high-touch experiences for social clients at a top-tier facility. Every role built another piece of the foundation that would one day become Irene + Co.


The Dream That Launched It All


Ten years ago, I was sitting on a couch with my then-boyfriend (now husband), and he asked me the classic question—if you could do anything, what would it be? Without hesitation, I said I’d turn my little side hustle of wedding coordinating into a full-time business.


Little did I know what I was in for.


What started as a one-woman show has grown into a multi-office operation. Our original NYC office is still going strong. Our Connecticut team is thriving. And our Utah office, added just four years ago, is booming with weddings that stretch from Salt Lake City to Park City and beyond. We figured out the secret sauce for planning and designing events that feel seamless to execute and unforgettable to experience.


A Few Career Highlights


We’ve been honored with The Knot Best of Weddings in both Connecticut and Utah multiple years in a row. We’ve received the WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award. And in 2024, I delivered a TED Talk on how to plan the perfect day. Watch it here.


I’ve had the opportunity to design weddings and events across the country—in New York, Boston, New Haven, Park City, and everywhere in between. From city rooftop celebrations to forested destination weekends, we’ve done it all and we’re just getting started.


A Few Personal Fun Facts


I’m a mom of twin girls and a wife to the love of my life. We live in a cozy forest hideaway in Connecticut, and I keep a personal apartment in Utah for work and wedding season. With offices across the country, I fly a lot—but I absolutely love it. Every window seat gives me a fresh view and a new perspective.


This career has been nothing like what I imagined. It’s been a hundred times better. It’s been wild, fulfilling, surprising, and full of the kind of joy that only comes from helping people celebrate what really matters.


What’s Next


We are currently booking weddings for the upcoming season on both the East and West Coasts. I’m also speaking at industry events like Wedding MBA, WeddingPro experiences, and online summits for wedding professionals. Helping other pros grow in this field is one of my favorite things to do—and I’m just getting started.
